ELILI LIVES IN ADAMA CITY IN ETHIOPIA. SHE WAS BORN WITH TETRALOGY OF FALLOT, A LIFE-THREATENING MULTIPLE CONGENITAL HEART DEFECT THAT CAN ONLY BE REPAIRED BY OPEN-HEART SURGERY.
Elili is a playful, active, and curious little girl. She likes spending time with her sister and enjoys drawing. Her favorite food is Shiro.
Elili has experienced weakness, difficulty breathing and fatigue from about the age of 2 months. Her family was shocked when a local cardiac center diagnosed her condition as Tetralogy of Fallot – a multiple congenital heart disorder.
Elili’s life-saving open-heart surgery requires funding of $15,000.

Child's Story
Age: 3.5 years old
From: Adama City, Ethiopia
Suffers from: weakness, breathing difficulty, sweating and fatigue
Condition: Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF), a congenital heart defect with four abnormalities that reduce oxygen levels in the blood and can cause cyanosis, requiring surgical repair.
Physicians in Ethiopia are unable to perform the surgery required to mend Elili’s heart. They referred her parents to Save a Child’s Heart in Israel.
Elili’s family are full of hope that she can lead a normal life.
Elili is three-and-a-half years old and has an older sister, Gisq, who is eight. Her father, Terecha Gutema is a civil servant and her mother, Alemitu Debela, is a housewife. Elili speaks both Amharic and Oromia.
Elili’s parents were alarmed when they learned that she has a life-threatening cardiac condition, but they were overjoyed when they learned that Save a Child’s Heart provides free cardiac care that can save their daughter’s life. Her mother will accompany her on the journey to Israel for complex open-heart surgery.
